This summer we will be erecting an off grid house on Vancouver Island's west coast we have designed for a Vancouver client. The house has spectacular views from a perched, foreshore location, with 270 degree views of the ocean and islands. The main spaces face south and west to exploit views and sunpath.

This summer we will be erecting an off-grid house on a foreshore location on the west coast of Vancouver Island for a Vancouver client. The site overlooks a small bay with spectacular 270 degree views of the oceans and islands.

The site is water access only so materials and components will be barged to the bay that the house overlooks then helicoptered onto the job site.

An 8 kw pv array will provide electrical power to the dwelling. The pv panels will be slung off the south side of the deck for easier access, cleaning and maintenance.

A log burning cooking stove, which will provide heat, cooking and hot water in winter and the shoulder seasons, will be supplemented by a propane on-call water heater and cooktop.

Site clearing will begin later this month and completion is targeted for the autumn.
